Representatives from our Junior and Senior Choirs performed as part of the Sydney Anglican Schools Choral Festival in recently at Penrith Anglican College.

This year nine schools participated in the festival. The participating schools were Danebank, Macquarie Anglican Grammar School, Orange Anglican Grammar School, Oran Park Anglican College, Penrith Anglican College, Richard Johnson Anglican School, Roseville College, Rouse Hill Anglican College and Thomas Hassall Anglican College.

“We departed Macquarie on Tuesday 2 August to go to Penrith, Sydney. The next day we attended the Choral Festival at Penrith Anglican College. We started the day with a tech rehearsal on the stage. Our choir sang a song called Kakadu which is about a bird soaring high and free above Kakadu. After lunch we got to do the actual performance where we performed in front of the other schools and their visiting principals. We had a wonderful time. All the schools sang beautifully and we got some inspiration for our own choir.

On Wednesday night after our performance, we went to see Mary Poppins at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney. Mary Poppins was very funny and had all the magic of the original movie. The set was amazing and so was the cast.

The highlight of this trip was the concert where we performed and Mary Poppins. We can’t wait to sing again at the Anglican Schools Choral Festival again next year.”
