Remembering 2015 Captain, Angus Brander

26 February 2025

Angus Brander was a proud member of the Macquarie community, attending from Kindergarten through to Year 12.

A natural leader, he was appointed School Captain in 2015, in his final year, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and teachers alike. From a young age, Angus was determined to become a commercial pilot, a dream he pursued with great passion and dedication.

After completing school, Angus spent a GAP year with the Defence Force, stationed in Townsville, before beginning his career as a pilot with a charter company operating out of Melbourne and Mt Isa. His work took him across the Gulf, Central Australia, and Melbourne, transporting passengers, including VIPs, to remote and metropolitan locations. He was deeply committed to his profession and took great pride in his role.

Angus faced significant health challenges in recent years, which ultimately prevented him from continuing his flying career. Tragically, these challenges led to his passing. He will be remembered for his warmth, determination, and the impact he had on all who knew him. In accordance with Angus’ wishes, a celebration of his life was held on Saturday, 15 February, at 11.00 am at the Castlereagh Hotel, Dubbo.

On behalf of the Macquarie community, I extend our deepest condolences to Angus’ family as they navigate this profound loss. May they find comfort in the many memories of a remarkable young man who left an enduring mark on those around him.

Psalm 147:3 – He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
