News from the Design Kitchen

4 April 2018

As the end of term approaches the Design Kitchen winds down, ending on a great note for Stages 5 and 6. A reminder that all recipes for this term may be taken home and may also be found in electronic version on Canvas.

Please invest in a good sized cake container over the holidays for those students that found finding the right sized container a challenge!

Stage 5:

Students cooked a marbled Easter cake (pictured) to highlight the importance of customs and traditions regarding the food we eat. Some students opted to make Easter muffins for quick preparation.

There will be no cooking in week 10 due to Easter Monday and the Cross Country on Friday.

Stage 6:

Year 11 Food Technology are conducting the practical component of their first Assessment task this week. This task investigated the reasons why we select certain foods as families. Students will prepare a recipe that is often eaten in their homes and justifying these reasons with anecdotal evidence.

Year 12 also made Easter marble cakes and will focus on the completion of the Food Manufacturing Unit of work in Weeks 10 and 11.
