Our HICES and WAS Athletics teams, our Science and Engineering Challenge team and our Da Vinci decathlon teams, among others have all represented our school with distinction over the last month. For three of these teams members of our staff have had at least one night away from their families to support these teams and give our students every opportunity.

Teaching is an amazing career and teachers are incredible people.

In this term Mrs Simcox, Mrs Cole and Mr Wright have undertaken a study tour of the education system of Finland. Finland is consistently listed as one of the very best education systems in the world. Three members of our school executive, winners of our inaugural Robert Grant Scholarship went to learn from the world’s best because they want this school to be the world’s best. They are now working on a proposal for us to add to our amazing teaching and learning framework.

Teaching is an amazing career and teachers are incredible people.

In classrooms all over our school this week, our teachers are striving to provide your children and mine with the best possible education. Our outcomes at Macquarie speak for themselves. Our mission statement is “To develop resilient young people who make a difference in the world within a high quality, affordable, Christ-centred education.” Our teachers have made it their life work to do this for our children.

Teaching is an amazing career and teachers are incredible people.

As a school we have policies and procedures to cover almost every eventuality. We spend time reviewing and testing them and they are regularly inspected by the Anglican Schools Corporation, New South Wales Education Standards Authority and NSW Ombudsman. This is appropriate because you place your children in our care every day.

Teaching is an amazing career and teachers are incredible people.

We have close to 600 people on this site every day. Some days we all get along some days we don’t. On the days we don’t Mr Murphy, Mr Chalmers, Ms Wheeler and Ms Goodall lead the charge to resolve those issues and sometimes they even include me. We do so carefully and compassionately with world’s best practice but even then it can take time to gather all the information.
Yet in a nearly 30 year career in education these four educators are the best I have ever worked with in getting to the truth of an issue.

Teaching is an amazing career and teachers are incredible people.

It is my belief that teaching is the best career in the world. It is my belief that our teaching staff here at Macquarie is an amazing group of highly trained professional who are striving every day to develop our children to be resilient young people who make a difference in the world.

As a father of four children at this school I believe I am incredibly blessed.

If you have a young person in your house who is considering their future and wondering about what career path they should follow send them to me and I will explain why education is a career unlike any other.

By the way the rest of our team, our administration staff, our grounds, cleaning and maintenance staff, our aides and the team from group office are pretty amazing too!
