What an amazing end to a busy first term for our Year 7-10 students who participated in the Lake Keepit and Urban Challenge programs.Thank you to our students for their great enthusiasm and attitude throughout two very challenging and character building experiences.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to engage in elements of each program.  From the beaches of Manly and Bondi to bush tracks and kayaking at Lake Keepit, students were challenged physically, mentally and socially. We have received some great feedback from students which will assist us in continuing the growth of our camp program.

One of the key themes throughout the student feedback was that they enjoyed the programs but found it very challenging to work with others, navigate in unfamiliar locations and be removed from the comfort of their own beds. We ask students to reflect on their experiences and ask themselves were they unhappy with the camp or was it that they were not prepared to take the challenge on? Sometimes in the modern and busy world we forget:

“Happiness is not the absence of problems; it’s the ability to deal with them.” - Steve Maraboli

Term 2 is full to the brim in the Senior School, kicking off with the arrival of the bucket hats. Our students have taken to the change, seamlessly transitioning over the last couple of days to the Senior School bucket hat. In the coming weeks our Year 7 and 9 students will move into NAPLAN, our school musical rehearsals are ramping up, interschool sport for 2018 commences in Weeks 4 and 6 and our staff are planing a number of subject specific and sporting excursions. Senior School Homework Centre commences this week with a slight change. Students will be able to join our staff on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:15pm - 4:15pm in G Study. This is a great opportunity for students to work on and clarify assessment and homework questions with Staff.

For the commencement of Term 2 we are also fortunate to have 2 remodelled classroom spaces. With our growth in the Senior School the need for enhanced amenities during breaks has been identified by our student body and with the works over the holiday break students will now have access to the hall toilets from the playground side. Hall Mezz has undergone a restructure erecting walls and an entry/exit point to clearly define 3 great classroom spaces. We have introduced a purpose built Stage 6 Science Lab in E block specifically designed to cater for our Chemistry students who require a dedicated space to set up major practical experiments.

  • Full Winter Uniform from Week 3
  • Bucket hats have replaced sports caps and formal hats from this week onwards for Senior School only
