2017 School Merino Challenge
On Monday 20 February Abbey Cusack, Jenni Tink and Angus Bodiam participated in a training day for the 2017 School Merino Challenge. Around 50 schools attended the training at the Rural Skills Centre at the Dubbo TAFE.

Ozzy conquers Kosciuszko

The Macquarie community is very proud of Year 4 student Ozzy Nixon, who climbed Mount Kosciuszko on the weekend. Ozzy took part in this challenge to raise funds for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
Ozzy has raised over $3600 through donations and holding a cake stall, smashing his target of $3000.He was the youngest of 20 people with cerebral palsy who climbed Mount Kosciuszko on Saturday 18 February.

As I write this article on a Tuesday morning there is ongoing war in Iraq, a plane crash in Melbourne and BBC news are reporting a famine has hit South Sudan with 100 000 people facing starvation and 1 000 000 more people on the brink.
We are a blessed people here at Macquarie. We live in an amazing nation which provides us with incredible freedoms, an amazing lifestyle and on worldwide terms, the opportunity to achieve just about anything. Yet our social media and mainstream media are constantly focusing on the negative at every opportunity.
Recently our senior politicians decided it was time again to dive into the mire of unbridled personal attacks with name calling that we would not allow anywhere, let alone the centre of our democracy.
