An exciting musical announcement

An exciting musical announcement

15 September 2017

The Junior and Senior Schools are busy rehearsing for our upcoming CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) Night which will be held on Thursday 26 October (Week 3 Term 4). The event will include music, drama and performance pieces along with the inaugural P&F Art Auction of student work for each stage. Please save the date, get involved and make sure you come along to support our school community for the CAPA Night.

The P&F have asked for parent support for the event, so please see where you can possibly assist and thankyou in advance for your support. More information about the event will be published in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to Quentin Robinson for his recent HSC Drama presentations. The day ran smoothly and we hope that the markers appreciated his efforts. Many thanks to the students who attended as the required audience and to Katie Powell and Natalie Roth who rehearsed and performed with Quentin.

I had the pleasure of taking the Senior Drama and IBE Entertainment students to see the the Bell Shakespeare performance ofThe Merchant of Venice” at the DRTCC this week. If you’ve ever been tempted to see well-presented Shakespeare that is made relevant, contemporary and engaging for today’s audiences then this is the company to see! They are currently touring Australia with this production and it is indeed a fantastic one. I really love that our students and community have the opportunity to access wonderful theatrical experiences like this in Dubbo.

And now for an exciting announcement...

This week we announced that we have secured the rights for Shrek Jr, the musical! It will be presented on 7 and 8 April at the end of Term 1, 2018. The audition process has commenced this week and we will announce the cast after the CAPA Night during Term 4. Rehearsals will then begin and we are looking forward to a lot of fun and hard work in putting this fun, upbeat musical adventure together for Macquarie community.
