Students Ella Jones (Year 7), Su Wai Lwin (Year 8) and Erin Barclay (Year 9) participated in the Dubbo Soapbox Challenge today at the Western Plains Cultural Centre. Speaking on the topic ‘young people need to be heard’ our girls were certainly an example of just why the opinion of young people should be listened to! They spoke on a broad range of issues relating to the topic that young people had strong opinions on, including mental health, pushing past stereotypes and learning from positive role models. The girls spoke with confidence, flair and sophistication and did Macquarie proud.

Danny and Luke selected in NSW cycling team

Danny and Luke selected in NSW cycling team

Congratulations to Danny Barber and Luke Ensor who have been successful in gaining selection into the NSW cycling team to compete at the National Titles in Tasmania.

Both the boys excelled along with their Dubbo Cycling Club teammates at the State Championships over the weekend.

Dramatic Adventures

Term 3 has seen a flurry of activity in the Drama room with students enjoying a range of Drama and theatre activities. Our Year 12 student Quentin Robinson is currently in the final weeks of preparation for his HSC Drama performance examinations that will take place in Week 6. He has added extra Sunday rehearsal time to his busy work schedule with Katie Powell and Natalie Roth who are assisting his Group Performance Piece. We are looking forward to the final performances which are displaying much potential.

From the Head of Junior School

It has been a wonderful start to Term 3. As I write this, our Stage 3 students are on their way to Canberra where they will no doubt have an excellent time of strengthening bonds with peers and teachers alike, as well as having a range of new experiences. Year 4 students are excitedly awaiting their trip to Lake Burrendong next week and Year 3 students are primed for their overnight excursion to the zoo later in the term.

On the afternoon of Tuesday 8  August, our whole Junior School were out under the shade sails ready for some jumping action. The Junior School children had been busy all holidays drumming up sponsorship money from friends and family for this event. It was our Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off!
